The Wisconsin Asphalt Pavement Association (WAPA) announced today that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Bureau of Technical Services (BTS) was the recipient of the 2021 State Award for advancing innovation in asphalt pavements.

In Memoriam: Gerald “Jerry” Waelti
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share with you the news that Gerald Waelti has passed away. Jerry was WAPA’s longest-tenured Executive Director, serving from 1986-2003, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. There wasn’t a better advocate for our industry and we were all so fortunate to work with him over the years.

Updated for 2021 – WAPA Parking Lot Design Guide
WAPA’s Asphalt Parking Lot Design Guide has been updated for 2021 to change the 20-Year Design ESALs from 2 million to 1 million (found in Tables 3.1 and 3.2).
This publication focuses on all phases of asphalt parking lot design, including planning, construction and maintenance. It also includes a comprehensive 61-point Inspection Checklist to help an on-site inspector identify key processes and follow best practices to produce a quality parking lot.
