WAPA will award at least two WAPA Student Scholarships in 2023.

If you or someone you know would be interested in applying, please let them know!

One Engineering Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2,000.

This award is open to undergraduates and graduate students studying civil engineering or construction engineering enrolled at an accredited Wisconsin university or Michigan Technological University as of fall 2023.

Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry.

Special consideration will be given to Wisconsin residents with sophomore or junior status as of the 2023-2024 academic year.

One Engineering Technician Scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.

This award is open to engineering technology students enrolled at a Wisconsin technical college as of fall 2023. Preference will be given to those applicants who intend to pursue a career in the transportation construction industry.

For both scholarships, the due date for students to complete the Online Application Form and provide transcripts and letters of recommendation is Thursday, November 2.

Winners will be recognized during WAPA’s 64th Annual Conference and Business Meeting later this year. Please save the date — this year’s event will take place on November 28-29 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

A big thank you to WAPA’s membership for continuing to make these scholarships possible and for encouraging the next generation of asphalt pavement professionals in Wisconsin.

Thanks also to everyone who has shared old photos, WAPA letterhead, paper copies or digital scans of newsletters, videos and more in honor of our 75th Anniversary this year. If you have anything you’d like to share, please send it to WAPA Executive Director Deb Schwerman by September 30.

As always, if you have any questions about this information or if we can be of assistance in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,
