Keeping Wisconsin’s pavements smooth and operational is important, but we all know that working in and around live traffic can be dangerous.
That’s why recognizing the contributions of highway construction and maintenance workers is so critical.
Next week, from April 20-24, is National Work Zone Awareness Week, and the theme is “Safe Actions Save Lives.”
WAPA is proud to help shine a light on the men and women who put their lives on the line every day, and joins the call for safety improvements and innovations that can help make work zones safer for everyone on the road.
We’ve compiled a list of tools and resources below to help our members understand the risks and identify possible solutions to keep workers safe:
- Work Zone Safety Innovations Webinar. This free webinar on Monday, April 20 at 1:30 p.m. will showcase new safety technologies for work zones.
- Tips for Driving Safely in Work Zones. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) maintains a Work Zone Safety webpage with helpful information for drivers in a variety of scenarios.
- 2026 Poster and Social Media Images. Print or post these files to share with your team and online followers.
- Toolkit. The National Asphalt Pavement Association has developed videos, posters, social media strategies, and more to support its year-round Watch for Us campaign.
In addition, WisDOT will be hosting a statewide kick-off event at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20 at the WisDOT office along I-41 in Appleton.
On behalf of WAPA, thank you for all you do to keep Wisconsin’s roads smooth and safe.
As always, please let us know if there’s ever anything we can do for you.
Thank you,
Deb Schwerman
