WAPA Celebrates National Work Zone Awareness Week

Each day, asphalt industry professionals work in and around traffic to keep Wisconsin’s pavements smooth and operational.

In honor of National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW), which takes place this week from April 15-19, WAPA and other transportation organizations across the country are working to highlight the important contributions that highway construction and maintenance workers provide, and calling for increased safety improvements and innovations to reduce work zone hazards.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has compiled a variety of resources to help communicate the risks that highway workers face everyday, as well as potential life-saving solutions. A few of these include:

  • Fact SheetThe FHWA’s two-page document offers sobering national statistics on crashes and fatalities.
  • ToolkitThe National Asphalt Pavement Association has developed videos, posters, social media strategies, and more to support its year-round Watch for Us campaign.
  • PodcastsThe Center for Construction Research and Training offers expert interviews and insights about emerging hazards, contributing factors, and mitigation strategies.

On behalf of WAPA, thank you for all you do to keep Wisconsin’s roads smooth and safe for everyone.

As always, please let us know if there’s ever anything we can do for you.

Thank you,

Deb Schwerman
