Help us build a legacy that stands the test of time as we are seeking a Safety and Risk Manager to join the team in Pewaukee, Wisconsin with experience implementing, reviewing, assessing and developing risk management policies and procedures, to ensure we meet all company and regulatory compliance requirements. Establishing safety controls and mitigation plans to help keep our employees safe, promote safety, and build Century Companies culture.

The Safety and Risk Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry-specific regulations, and conducting regular job site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards. They will lead safety training sessions, investigate incidents to determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. This role also involves analyzing safety metrics, maintaining equipment safety standards, and fostering a culture of safety across the organization.

Job Functions & Duties:

  • Hazmat Registration
    • Need to update the registration annually
  • Oversee all traffic field operations/Shop/Yards
    • Visit road crews during the construction season
    • Monitor shop activities and travel to various shop locations
    • Provide guidance or corrective action when necessary
    • Monitor housekeeping
  • Manage driver files to ensure all drivers are in compliance
  • Manage drug and alcohol clearinghouse
    • Quarterly drug testing management
    • Claims management
    • Conduct annual training
    • Onboarding presentation
    • Respond to calls & requests
  • Safety platform management (Avetta, Veriforce, ISNetworld, etc.) (Fence)
    • Update annual safety data to remain compliant with connections
    • Assign employee training per request by project
  • Work Comp Reporting
    • Attend biannual risk control workshops

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • All roles are required to be on site at their assigned location daily to perform their role.
  • Able to remain seated for extended periods of time while working at a desk or computer.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, data entry, and operating office equipment.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, materials, or small equipment as needed for inspections and safety assessments).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or reach to retrieve or organize office materials.
  • Occasionally walking between office spaces, attending meetings, or moving around the office environment.
  • Must be able to read documents and use a computer screen.
  • Occasional need to stand or move for extended periods during meetings or other activities.
  • Ability to handle moderate noise levels in an office environment.
  • Capacity to frequently travel to job sites, which may involve walking on uneven terrain, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a safety management role, preferably in construction, fencing, or pavement marking industries.
  • Proven track record of implementing safety programs and improving workplace safety.
  • Certifications:
    • OSHA 30/510 Certification required.
    • First Aid/CPR Certification.
    • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of OSHA, DOT, and other industry-specific regulations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to conduct training sessions and maintain employee engagement.
    • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
