WAPA SCHOLARSHIPS
WAPA offers $1,000 annually to a student in the civil engineering program from the following universities: Marquette University, Michigan Technological University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Wisconsin-Platteville. WAPA also offers $500 annually to a student from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
Scholarship winners receive their scholarship and recognition at WAPA’s Annual Conference held shortly after Thanksgiving. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and support the development of civil engineers familiar with the design and construction of hot mix asphalt pavements.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Must be entering their junior or senior year in the civil engineering program (measured by credits).
- Must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career associated with transportation construction.
- Must receive a recommendation for the scholarship by the faculty of the civil engineering department.
- Must be a resident of Wisconsin.
By October 31 of each year, the civil engineering department of each university will recommend a minimum of two candidates for this scholarship. These recommendations must include student resumes as supportive evidence that the candidates meet the above criteria. Those students selected to receive the scholarships are selected by WAPA’s board of directors or its representatives based on a review and analysis of the faculty recommendations and student resumes.
