Position Overview

CBL Industrial Services is a 37 year-old company that specializes in the development and commercialization of technologies designed to address a range of industrial and commercial environmental challenges. The company has successfully commercialized chemical engineering technologies in many industries, including Construction, Iron and Steel Production, Transportation, Petrochemicals, Shipping, Steel Structures Maintenance, Auto Manufacturing, and Environmental Services. The company is currently launching a new product – Elastiko – that significantly reduces the life-cycle costs of asphalt pavements.

This position will direct technical research & development, oversee field demonstrations & performance evaluations, and guide customer technical support. The individual will interact with state regulatory, consulting engineering and paving communities (DOTs, Tollways, etc.) to obtain approval of Elastiko.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Assemble and organize all technical research performed on the dry process, with particular attention to lab and field testing of dry process rubberized asphalt.
  • Lead technical presentations and participate in meetings & negotiations with State and Federal Departments of Transportation to get Elastiko approved for use
  • Provide application training for engineers & end users
  • Support state-level campaigns to encourage DOT adoption of Elastiko, including asphalt producers, producer associations, environmental groups, legislative groups, trade press and related industry suppliers

Key Areas of Responsibility

Goal:  Obtain DOT Approval

  • Serve as technical liaison with state DOT, tollway and other transportation representatives
  • Coordinate testing programs & approval processes

Goal:  Oversee Technical Support & Research activities

  • Maintain a data base of technical research
  • Manage approved R&D projects
  • Provide technical support for specifications development
  • Manage field demonstrations/trials
    • Scheduling, coordination, and documentation of trials
  • Managing producer/quality management training content
  • Provide technical support for mix designs

Goal:  Provide marketing support

  • Prepare trial and project reports as “Case Studies”
  • Develop content for, and host webinars
  • Present company & product information at technical and trade conferences

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ technical experience in the asphalt production industry, having general hot mix asphalt knowledge and expertise in standard asphalt testing protocols
  • Training and experience on the operational and engineering sides of the asphalt production industry
  • General knowledge of hot mix asphalt, plus possess expertise in asphalt lab protocols
  • Possess existing contacts within State DOTs, AASHTO, ASTM, national and state industry organizations and asphalt producers
  • Bachelor’s degree in asphalt materials and/or civil engineering
  • Experience with product commercialization a plus
  • Solid experience with sales and information processing/office software (ACT or equivalent CRM, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
